About the Role

  • Permanent Part-time (0.4 FTE) ~ Saturday & Sunday – 11.00am to 7.00pm; Wednesday – 9.00am to 1.00pm
  • Based in Bayside Peninsula locations, VIC
  • SCHADS Level 4 - $86,828 plus super and salary packaging

Role Purpose

The Program Support Worker is an integral member of the family violence team and supports the provision of a strengths-based and trauma informed response to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women and young people at Good Shepherd’s emergency accommodation property.

This role works closely with the Case Management and Therapeutic teams to support women and young people to achieve their identified goals. This role also provides administrative support to the program and completes other practical tasks to ensure the smooth delivery of service and the running of the accommodation.

In this role, the Program Support Worker provides both individual and group support to women and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the co-ordination and facilitation of activities that meet the needs of women and young people
  • Undertake activities with women and young people to assist them to meet their case plan goals
  • Assist with the development of life and living skills
  • Arrange and facilitate access to appointments
  • Provide support to the specialist family violence practitioners and the therapeutic team
  • Transport clients as required
  • Assist families through crisis situations
  • Complete induction for clients, to the site and the local area
  • Provide emotional support
  • Provide a point of contact for general enquiries
  • Light cleaning duties as required
  • Prepare rooms for intake

About You

  • Minimum of Diploma of Community Services or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate respectfully to all staff and clients
  • Ability to work as a lone worker
  • Ability to take direction and apply sound judgment
  • Ability to easily build rapport
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask whilst considering prioritisation of urgent tasks
  • Ability to undertake shift work and flexibility to undertake additional shifts if required
  • Knowledge of/training in the MARAM (Multi Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework) beneficial
  • Case or Support work experience, particularly working with families and young people presenting with diverse needs is desirable
  • A current full Victorian driver’s license
  • Experience working in the family violence sector is highly desirable
  • Current First Aid Certificate desirable but not essential

  1. Demonstrated understanding of a trauma informed approach
  2. Demonstrated capacity to have person-centred conversations with a diverse range of people
  3. Ability to identify and undertake practical tasks, demonstrating flexibility and ability to prioritise
  4. An ability to work autonomously and independently and also as part of a team
