Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be a person with lived-living experience of mental illness, service use and recovery (identifies as a mental health consumer); or lived-living experience of caring for a person with mental illness, service use and recovery (identifies as a mental health carer).

About the role

Permanent full time opportunity to lead the strategic development of the Metro North Mental Health (MNMH) Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce, fostering collaboration with consumers, families, carers, kin and community to drive systemic advocacy and recovery-oriented service delivery.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Oversight and implementation of initiatives and strategies that promote lived-living experience, participation, engagement, and a recovery-oriented service, guided by the Recovery Frameworks, the Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Framework 2023, current health service strategies and plans, National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, and other relevant national and state plans.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the MNMH Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce, directly supporting the Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Team Leader in line with current human resource management practices.
  • Provide high level leadership in the development and implementation of lived-living experience participation and engagement for MNMH, ensuring active involvement of consumers, families, carers, and kin in service review, planning and development.
  • Executive sponsor for NSQHS Standard 2 Partnering with Consumers for MNMH.
