Seeking enthusiastic and suitably experienced applicants as Boarding House Residential Assistants to join our dynamic team of caring, reliable and safety conscious boarding staff to work in both our Junior and Senior Boys Boarding Houses. Permanent part-time and casual positions available.

Scots All Saints College is an independent, multi-campus Preparatory-Year 12 co-educational day and boarding school located in Bathurst, Central West NSW.

The school offers boarding accommodation for girls and boys from Year 7 – 12 across three houses.

The role:

Reporting directly to the Head of the Boarding House and working closely with the Director of Boarding, Residential Assistants contribute to the safety, health, care and development of boarders while cultivating a nurturing, fun and supportive environment in the Boarding House where students can thrive.

A strong commitment to student wellbeing, the capacity to build respectful relationships and supporting students with their schoolwork are essential for this role. The Residential Assistant will show initiative in supporting the positive atmosphere of the Boarding House and role modelling expected behaviours of the boarders with a clear understanding of the importance and significance of the legal requirements for the supervision of students in terms of Duty of Care requirements. Professional Development is provided to support every employee in understanding how to meet these expectations.

Rosters are across 7 days per week during school term time with afternoon, evening and weekend shifts available. It is essential that a Residential Assistant has availability to complete sleepover shifts in the boarding house at times. Opportunities for ‘live on campus’ Residential Assistants available.

Applicants must currently possess the following;

• Sound practical judgement skills and patience
• A genuine interest in working with and mentoring teenagers
• Ability to participate in training, both short online courses and progressive
• Organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Interpersonal skills to liaise with students, staff, parents and outside agencies
• A strong understanding of confidentiality and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues
• Proven abilities as a team player with a positive and professional disposition
• Excellent communication skills
• A current First Aid Certificate or a willingness to obtain it
• A current paid Working with Children Check Clearance or have a willingness to obtain it promptly. Please note that you are not able to commence employment until it has been obtained.
