About the practice

childpsych is one of Brisbane's longest running child psychology practices and we are looking for an enthusiastic accounts professional to join our team. We have expanded to include our sister practice, You Matter Psychologists which includes adults for therapy and psychological assessments.

We are based in Sherwood with a team of over 12 psychologists, 4 psychologists-in-training and 5 administration staff.

About the role

The management of accounts in our practice operates within a Service Entity business structure with a combination of employees (psychologists and administration) and professionals who we invoice for the clinical and administrative services the clinic provides them. The following tasks are indicative of the role:

• Managing day-to-day accounting transactions (accounts receivable, accounts payable)
• Preparing monthly accounts (profit and loss etc)
• Liaising with our external Accountant for annual accounts and tax queries
• Reconciliation, preparation and lodgement of monthly or quarterly business activity statements (BAS, IAS), Superannuation etc
• Reconciling bank accounts (transaction accounts, loans etc)
• Managing the accounts payable function including the processing of invoices due for payment
• Preparing fortnightly cash disbursements and service fee invoicing
• Managing the accounts receivable function including the allocation of payments
• Credit control of overdue payments
• Processing payroll and other related payroll tasks
• Basic HR administrative task

Hours and remuneration

We are offering a permanent part time position for 10 hours per week. Hours are family friendly and you can set your own hours and work from home for most of those hours. You will be paid between $35-40 per hour plus Superannuation.

• Professional and caring manner through all means of communication
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Being respectful, appreciative and supportive of your team members (both admin and psychologists)
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures regarding ethical and confidential standards when dealing with client data
• High organisational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritise responsibilities and tasks, forward planning and working on your feet to complete all relevant tasks
• Takes initiative to improve the policies and procedures of the practice
• Doesn't shy away from the harder tasks that require more attention or time to complete
• Work with the Operations Manager to manage the clinic
• Confident in the use of technological software (Microsoft Suite, Xero) and ability to learn new software as we continue to grow and improve our systems (e.g., practice management software and email ticketing systems)

Highly Desirable

The following is highly desirable but not essential:

• Experience with working in a Service Entity organisational structure
• Registered with the Tax Practitioners Board
• Certification as a Bookkeeper
