SUMMARY:-

Excellent opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel with 8+ years of experience to join a well-known supplier of sophisticated mechanical components to the construction industry for a 3-month contract to start ASAP in Melbourne.

THE ROLE

Reporting to: Work with an excellent and supportive General Counsel. We have known this General Counsel for years and vouch for their capability, integrity and supportive nature.

Working: Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days from home with flexibility also provided

Duration: 3 months initially

Start date: ASAP

Tasks:

• Lead the contract review process, including preparing and negotiating departures from contract templates, risk review and advice, insurance review, internal stakeholder engagement, completion of internal sign-offs, and execution.
• Provide legal advice to the business on all legal issues, including commercial, safety and compliance, procurement contracts, debt recovery, and people and industrial relations.
• Seek opportunities for continuous improvement to manage risk, achieve cost savings and operations efficiencies

ABOUT YOU:

You have the basics:

• Construction
• Infrastructure
• Projects

• You hold an Australian Legal Practicing Certificate and have at least 8 years of post-qualification experience
• You live in Melbourne
• Ideally, you have experience within or supplying the following industries with goods or services:-

You get it commercially – You have a keen awareness of commercially-minded and practical legal solutions for the business. You have the aptitude to manage work priorities and the expectations of diverse stakeholders. You are equally comfortable working autonomously or in a team environment as required.

You fit culturally – You are self-aware, grounded, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, are proficient in technology, are comfortable operating autonomously, are calm and considered, practical with common sense, and prepared to take ownership.

You are a good lawyer. You should be able to operate and accustomed to working largely autonomously. You need to be a skilled legal operator to consider diverse legal issues, work from first principles, and see the big picture. You should have extensive commercial and contractual negotiation and drafting experience.
