Are you a dedicated and practical Compliance and Governance Officer looking to join a grassroots Nonprofit making a difference in the local community? This critical position ensures that the organisation’s policies, procedures, and documentation meet compliance standards and reflect best practices. You will play an integral role in aligning business practices with the Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF), ACNC guidelines, and the Associations Incorporation Act. The role involves reviewing and updating policies, conducting internal audits, and establishing documentation systems to support ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
If you are an all-rounder with experience in policy review and development, conduct staff consultation on draft policy, able to provide advice to the management committee, as well as overseeing the implementation of policies and procedures into daily operations, this is the opportunity for you!
In this role, you will identify and address compliance gaps, updating policies as necessary, and standardise documentation for clarity, consistency, and accessibility. The role also involves developing and implementing a schedule for internal audits, ensuring compliance monitoring in areas such as risk management and continuous improvement, while maintaining a regular review cycle to address any compliance gaps.

Additionally, the Compliance and Governance Officer will develop a rolling schedule for regular policy reviews to meet evolving compliance requirements and provide monthly reports to the Director, summarising progress, audit outcomes, and consultation feedback.

Ideally, you will have a tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Governance, Compliance, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a compliance, governance, or policy role within a community-based or not-for-profit sector. A strong understanding of HSQF, ACNC guidelines, and the Associations Incorporation Act is essential.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are required essential, with the ability to produce clear and accessible policy documents. The role requires the ability to facilitate consultations, foster staff understanding of compliance requirements, and work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
