About the Business
Our Organisational Development and Learning team deliver strategic expertise and business services in individual and organisational learning, development and recruitment to build leadership capability and champion DHS workforce strategies and initiatives.
Role Details
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Consultant to join our Organisational Development and Learning team on a permanent part-time basis (0.5 FTE).
The Senior DEI Consultant is responsible for leading the implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion strategies to create a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
You will play a key role in providing expert analysis and advice to senior leaders, managers and employees, as well as representing the department on relevant public sector government working groups and committees.
As a Senior Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant, you will
- Lead the implementation of DEI strategies within the department to foster a diverse and equitable workplace, including the DHS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.
- Providing expert analysis and advice on organisational trends and data to drive leadership development and inclusive practices.
- Establish and maintain a monitoring and reporting framework to track progress on DEI initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate relevant programs and events that relate to the delivery of DEI initiatives.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience managing and evaluating significant organisational strategies, diversity programs or other initiatives.
- Demonstrated knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion issues, with expertise in DEI principles, policies and legislative frameworks.
- Strong communication skills and ability to present complex and sensitive issues and findings verbally and in writing.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders.
- High-level project management experience including development, implementation and evaluation of project outcomes.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a passion for driving positive change.

Special Conditions
Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check if new to the Department and a satisfactory Employment-related Screening Check where this is required for the role.
