Job description:

The Opportunity

We are seeking passionate and experienced Teachers in Animal Studies to join our team at Broadmeadows and Bendigo Campuses. In this role, you will deliver high-quality vocational education, training and competency-based assessment across our suite of Animal Studies programs, including:

  • Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training
  • Certificate III in Animal Studies
  • Certificate II in Animal Care

You will deliver training in a classroom, simulated workplace, and potentially online environments, preparing students for rewarding careers in animal care, training, and welfare sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deliver engaging learning programs and resources for animal studies courses
  • Create authentic learning experiences that reflect current industry practices
  • Use training packages and accredited courses to meet student and industry needs
  • Facilitate hands-on, practical training whilst following ethical practices in animal handling, care, and welfare
  • Identify and address student learning needs, including language, literacy, and numeracy support
  • Design and implement valid and reliable assessment tools
  • Assess student learning and competence across various animal studies contexts
  • Participate in assessment validation activities
  • Maintain industry currency through professional networks and industry engagement
  • Establish and maintain relationships with animal care industry partners
  • Promote BKI's animal studies programs to potential students and industry stakeholders
  • Contribute to workforce development solutions in the animal care sector
  • Comply with national VET quality standards and relevant legislation
  • Maintain accurate student records and assessment documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement and compliance activities

About You

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent)
  • Previous industry experience in animal care, training, or related field
  • Hold at least one of the following qualifications:
  • Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training
  • Certificate III in Animal Studies
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Demonstrated knowledge of animal handling, welfare, and care practices
  • Experience in training delivery or mentoring preferred
