The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a talented Financial Analyst / Project Cost Controller to join their dynamic finance team. This role involves project cost control management and reporting, supporting our Sustainment Operations Business Unit. You will work collaboratively on programs delivering cutting-edge technology to the Australian Defence Force.

You will partner closely with the Senior Financial Analyst and reporting to the Financial Analysis Senior Manager.

Based North of Adelaide, this position offers a fast-paced environment with ongoing challenges, ensuring engaging and varied work. You will also have opportunities to gain exposure to broader financial operations and enterprise-wide projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop cost forecasts, perform weekly financial reporting, and conduct quarterly Estimate at Completion (EAC) reviews.
• Manage month-end close processes, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and forecasting.
• Analyse cost performance and provide insights and recommendations.
• Implement baseline changes in the financial system (Deltek Cobra).
• Prepare variance reports on cost and schedule performance.
• Price minor contract change proposals and assess financial implications.
• Review financial data with program and leadership stakeholders.
• Engage with Control Account Managers, finance teams, and Program Leadership.
• Mentor junior cost analysts within the team.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA/CA qualifications
• Relevant experience in project accounting, management accounting, and cost control.
• Working within a finance setting on infrastructure, construction, government, or engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of cost forecasting, variance reporting, and EAC processes.
• Experience managing financial baseline changes.
• Proficiency in Open Plan Professional or Deltek COBRA (highly regarded).
