HAMR and BC Coatings are seeking an experienced Full-Time Supervisory Technician - Spectral Formulations and Analysis, to join our team in Hoppers Crossing.

The Supervisory Technician - Spectral Formulations and Analysis is responsible for managing colour development activities, ensuring the correct colouring application are produced across the lines with an emphasis on achieving the pre-set goals and objectives of the company.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Conducting quantity calculations to determine the required ratios to formulate the desired colour within the specifications of the customer requirements
• Developing formulas to match the Colour Spectrophotometer/Working Colour Master
• Managing the creation of colour formulations for inclusion on the company database
• Preparing materials and mixing chemicals for colour experimentation
• Spraying samples to ensure accuracy
• Maintaining paint mixing room, warehouse and tools
• Updating formulas into colour retrieval system.
• Converse with customers to fully understand requirements
• Inspecting, maintaining and reporting of issues relating to Colour Spectrophotometer and other equipment

To be Considered you will:

• Relevant Diploma level or higher qualification - Surface Coating Technology (Desirable)
• Have vast knowledge and experience of automotive colour matching, tinters, pigments (an impact on colour), colour spectral analysis preferably with automotive paint application knowledge.
• The ability to follow processes and procedures every time
• A strong attention to detail while being a quick and adaptable learner
• Have experience using computers, including emails.
• This position requires the ability to create colour formulations from scratch, Including three layer pearl. A thorough understanding of automotive tinters is required.
• These formulas need to be mixed, sprayed and checked to ensure accuracy to the target colour.
• The use and maintenance of spray guns is required.
• Knowledge in the automotive spray painting industry will be highly regarded.
