Our client, a leading Engineering consultancy, specialising within the Water sector are looking for a Commissioning project manager to join their Sydney team.

This role will be based in Sydney Olympic park with flexible working available 2 days p/week.

To be successful in this role you will need;

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
• Tertiary qualifications (i.e. diploma/degree) in mechanical, electrical or relevant engineering discipline
• 7 or more years experience in engineering and construction industry
• 3 or more years experience in planning and delivery of the commissioning of
electrical, control systems, mechanical, civil, and/or process infrastructure,
including commissioning fieldwork
• Commissioning effort/cost estimation and program/schedule development
• Strong understanding of the process flow of commissioning and completions
• Experience in creating collaborative environments and stakeholder management
• Competent in communicating and working with multi-disciplinary teams from
design and construction
• Knowledge of operational requirements, process interruption issues and
brownfield installation planning
• Experience with and knowledge of EDMS, Delivery Portal, Maximo, SCADA and IICATs systems

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in water and wastewater industry or similar process industry
• Development or management of estimation systems (i.e databases)
• Competent with project management tools such as MS Project and Miro
• Experience with Sydney Water requirements for transitioning assets into
operation

The day to day responsibilities will include;

• Support the Commissioning and Completions Manager with all aspects of
commissioning and handover in the project proposal (Stage 2) and RFQ stage
across the entire program of works.
• Develop commissioning plans in Pre-Operations and create cost estimates for
the delivery of commissioning activities in Stage Two. The plans will be
developed in collaboration with the design and construction teams.
• Accurately estimate the costs associated with commissioning activities,
including labour, materials, and other resources required for the successful
commissioning of projects.
• Creating benchmark templates and industry best practices to ensure accurate
and efficient estimation of commissioning costs for West Region Delivery Team.
This will include understanding and using existing data available from the
program to accelerate and improve the accuracy of the benchmarking progress.
• Work closely with the Commissioning and Completion Manager, Commissioning Engineers, Stage One Project Manager’s, Project Engineer’s, Design Engineers, Cost Estimators and other Stakeholders to ensure that commissioning plans and cost estimates align with the overall project objectives and budget constraints.
• Attendance of pull planning sessions (Miro board) to establish key project
milestones.
• Attend and contribute to design review, safety in design and pull planning
workshops to ensure that the design considers construction and commissioning
activities.
• Identify and assess potential risks in the commissioning phase and provide cost related solutions to mitigate them.
• Prepare detailed documentation for commissioning plans and cost estimates for submission to the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Continuous monitoring and tracking accuracy of commissioning estimates
against actuals at each project phase to enable incorporation of learnings
throughout the entire delivery process into the front end estimation process.
• Manage relationships and proactively manage expectations with Sydney Water and WRDT estimation teams to enable realistic and accurate commissioning estimation and prompt resolution of issues during Stage 1.
• Deliver measurable benefits and outcomes for the program of works
