Team Leader, Forensic Unit

  • Full Time, Temporary (up February 2026 with the possibility of ongoing)
  • Location: Gladesville (relocating to CBD at the end of 2025)

We are searching for enthusiastic and motivated Team Leader to join the Mental Health Review Tribunal. You will be involved in all aspects of leading and managing the Tribunals Forensic Unit while maintaining our high standards. If you are a natural collaborator, solution oriented and enjoy leading and developing staff, then this is the opportunity for you.

About this role

  • Lead and manage the Tribunal’s Forensic Unit which is made up of a team of eight staff and be responsible for the processing and scheduling of forensic patient hearings and reviews under the Mental Health Act 2007 and the Mental Health and Cognitive Impairment Forensic Provisions Act 2020.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders including Tribunal members, health, corrections and justice officials.
  • Broad operational knowledge of mental health legislation and understanding of issues affecting people with a mental illness is preferred but not essential.

Crown Clerk Grade 9/10, $125,693 - $138,510 p.a. plus super and annual leave loading

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who have:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team
  • Ability to navigate legal matters relating to mental health and forensic issues
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines in a high pressure environment
  • High-level oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines in a high pressure environment
  • Demonstrated high-level understanding of forensic patient issues, victims’ issues and the role of the Tribunal with respect to forensic patient review
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in law, management or a related field preferred but not essential
