Centacare has an opening for a Mental Health Worker to join our Eating Disorder Support Services (EDSS) Program. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), fixed-term position until 30 June 2025, with the possibility of extension based on funding.

About the Role

In this role, you will provide non-clinical, recovery-oriented support to individuals experiencing eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. Support is delivered face-to-face, via telephone, and through community-based outreach to ensure accessible and inclusive care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use recovery-focused, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and holistic approaches to support clients.
  • Empower individuals to build capacity, find hope, and take steps toward sustained recovery.
  • Provide information on clinical and non-clinical services, offering appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Deliver educational sessions to community groups, organizations, and schools.
  • Strengthen the reach of the program by identifying new ways to engage with target communities.

What you need to bring

  • Minimum qualification Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent
  • Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check
  • Proven experience working with or understanding of the complex needs of people living with an eating disorder
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to do some work outside of standard hours when required
  • Experience using Penelope electronic client management system
