About the Barkly Region
The Barkly Region covers more than 320,000 km2 stretching from the old Telegraph Station at Barrow Creek in the south to the historical droving township of Newcastle Waters in the north. Located approximately 1000km south of Darwin and 500km north of Alice Springs. Tennant Creek has a population of 3,252 and is the largest town in the region.

Facilities
Tennant Creek has a well-stocked IGA and several other specialist retail businesses along with a number of cafes, pubs and clubs. Along with a private medical centre the Barkly region’s health needs are met with a 20-bed hospital located in Tennant Creek. Both a primary school and high school are located in Tennant Creek along with a new and modern Youth Centre.

The Barkly Regional Council is the second-largest Local Government by land mass in Australia. The estimated population of the Barkly Regional Council is 6,316 spread over 7 communities (2 regional towns and 5 remote communities). About the Role
Are you an experienced leader with a passion for operational excellence and community development? Barkly Regional Council is seeking a Regional Manager Operational Services North to oversee municipal and commercial operations in Elliott and Tennant Creek.

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will support Operational Services Coordinators and local teams to deliver essential services, projects, and initiatives. Your focus will be on planning, executing, and reporting on funded programs that align with the Council’s strategic vision.

The Essentials
 Extensive experience in a similar role managing staff with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members to foster independence and increase local ownership of the service.
 Extensive experience in managing budgets, financial procedures, and reporting.
 Ability to contribute to Annual, Strategic and Business Plans.
 Ability to manage and oversee Commercial contracts and project activities.
 Current Driver’s Licence.
 Current National Police Criminal History Check (within the last 3 months).
 Current Northern Territory Working with Children Check (Ochre Card).

 You have strong leadership and management experience, with the ability to guide and support diverse teams across multiple locations.
 You excel in building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, using your communication skills to foster trust, collaboration, and positive outcomes.
 You are passionate about delivering high-quality services that enhance the wellbeing and sustainability of remote communities, with a deep understanding of their unique challenges.

The Finer Details
 Full-Time position paying Above EBA Award Classification of the Barkly Regional Council Enterprise Agreement 2023.
 Annual Salary of $133,350.16 per annum ($5,218.85 gross per fortnight).
 Tennant Creek Zone Allowance of $1.89 per ordinary hour.
 11.5% Superannuation.
 Housing and utilities provided
