The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South-East Qld.
The Oral Health service Teams works to improve access to dental care for IUIH and Member Services with a particular focus on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals. The service aims to promote oral health, supporting family well-being, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate Oral health services for all clients through integrated holistic care.
About the Role?
The position is responsible for delivering improved Oral Health outcomes in the Indigenous communities whom are patients of IUIH Member (ATSICHS) services. The role will provide dental, education and training services to clients, in the context of a comprehensive primary health care service. The role will entail service delivery from designated primary clinic locations and outreach services as required.
Your day-to-day duties may include:
Within your role, you may be required to:
- Provide quality education and instruction on diet and other aspects of dental care.
- Assist in development and implementation of oral health promotion, education and awareness activities.
- Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications where required
- Perform comprehensive patient diagnoses, assessments, treatments, repairs and contribute to better health outcomes for clients.
- Ensure that dental care is in line with national ethical, legal and standards of Dental care
About You?
- Willingness and availability to work on Saturdays
- Current AHPRA
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Bachelor in Dentistry
- Professional Medical Indemnity Insurance
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
