ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Naval Architect will take a leading role in the Vessel Safety Unit to deliver technical advice and expertise in naval architecture to support their goal in maximising compliance with National Law and supporting safety outcomes.
You will be responsible for:
- Reviewing structural and stability assessments and approvals
- Providing advice on applications for exemptions, approvals, and certification under the National Law
- Providing subject matter expertise on standards interpretations and development
- Play a key role in accreditation, audits, assessment, and monitoring activities relating to private accredited surveyors
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge and understanding of domestic vessel survey regimes, modern audits, and investigation techniques.
- Solid foundations within the Australian Maritime industry
- Understanding of the application of national and international standards and conventions.
- Ability to engage and network with stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Experience in construction, administration or customer service is desirable, not just in the marine industry
- Qualifications in a Naval Architecture discipline
