VACCINATION CATEGORY: A

RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Executive Officer/DoN – Brown Nurses

An exciting opportunity to apply for Registered Nurse positions has arisen at the Brown Nurses, a community-based nursing organisation located in inner city Glebe. The Brown Nurses provide high quality care to vulnerable people experiencing isolation, who are at risk of homelessness and have been marginalised from accessing health and welfare services whilst experiencing chronic-complex health conditions. Our unique service aims to support our clients to actively engage in healthcare and access the health services of their choice. We partner with local services to provide assessment, treatment, education, support and referral utilising a trauma informed and harm minimisation approach.

Our Registered Nurses are members of a small but dedicated team which provides quality care to our clients living in the City of Sydney Local Government Area. In collaboration with our clients and the wider multidisciplinary health care team, our nurses assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care, to achieve client goals and optimal outcomes. This includes appropriate referral to, and consultation with, other relevant health professionals, service providers, community and support services.

Committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our workforce, the Brown Nurses offer a range of employment benefits to our team members including:

  • Monday to Friday rostering (excluding public holidays)
  • Above award leave entitlements - 25 days annual leave (Pro Rata) and additional annual leave up to a total of 30 days (Pro Rate) based on years of service
  • Access to a generous professional development fund for every nurse
  • Full benefits of salary packaging
  • Access to clinical supervision
  • Access to a range of employee assistance programs

Brown Nurses Care is:

  • Provided in an environment underpinned by our mission and values
  • Holistic and centred on the needs of each client
  • High quality, safe, and continuously improved to ensure best practice
  • Informed by current best practice
  • Delivered by a team of dedicated, appropriately qualified people who are supported in the continuing development of their knowledge and skills

We draw on the talents of our people and collaborate with others who share our vision and values to continue the pioneering spirit of our founders, Eileen O’Connor and Father McGrath and the Ministry of Our Lady’s Nurses for the Poor. We are committed to providing compassionate and wholistic care, enabling hope for those we serve in the community. Our values provide direction as to the type of organisation we aspire to be and the kind of behaviours we regard as appropriate to help achieve our aspirations. Our values underpin all that we do and are demonstrated through our everyday actions, giving our mission and vision life.
