ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

This position is responsible for assisting the Road Vegetation team in the completion of maintenance and management tasks for the control of vegetation in the road reserve and other operational land across the Local Government Area. Operating from within the Civil Operations Unit, this role undertakes maintenance duties such as supporting roadside slashing, chemical vegetation management, tree maintenance (and removal), snipping, mowing and general labouring tasks. The position involves a high degree of preparation and maintenance of vehicles, tools and other plant. Additionally, it requires a degree of planning of work and use of mobile technology.

For this role you will be required to have a Certificate III in Horticulture or related field, or equivalent relevant experience in the management of vegetation in the roadside or have a willingness to obtain as supported under Council's Learning and Development Protocol.

It would be advantageous if you currently held, or can demonstrate a willingness and ability to obtain, through Council provided training, the following:

  • Implement Traffic Control Plans Card (formally yellow/blue traffic control card)
  • Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
  • Current Class MR/HR drivers licence
  • ChemUse Certificate (AQF3).

This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 76 hours per fortnight. This team currently works a 9-day fortnight.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 5 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $2242 - $2522 per fortnight plus superannuation.
