About the Role
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Family Preservation Caseworker - Parental Leave Contract to join our team at our Rosebery office. In this role, you will provide intensive case management to support Aboriginal children and families identified as at risk of entering the Out of Home Care system. Your work will focus on mitigating risk, increasing safety, and promoting overall well-being for children and families.
This is a contract until December 2025 with the possibility of extension.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide intensive case management to support Aboriginal children and families at risk
- Use tools and activities to engage children, young people, and families in the program
- Develop collaborative action plans with families, focusing on safety, parent-child relationships, and well-being
- Facilitate Action Plan meetings every 90 days with families, the Department of Communities and Justice, and other relevant services
Requirements
- Working with Children's Check
- NSW Driver’s Licence (minimum P2)
Skills and Experience
- Willingness to travel across metropolitan Sydney to support families
- Experience in Out of Home Care or the Child Protection sector
- Relevant qualifications or extensive life skills
- Knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families, and children
- Experience working with birth families experiencing intergenerational trauma
- Understanding of the impacts of Drugs & Alcohol, Mental Health, and Domestic Violence on families
- Ability to build rapport and trust with children, adolescents, and families
