Located at The Pier, Cairns City, Cuts By Carella is a premier salon offering a relaxed yet high-quality hairdressing experience. We specialise in cutting, styling, foiling, colouring, and tailored hair treatments. Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a Qualified Hairdresser (Certificate III in Hairdressing required) to join our growing team. If you’re a passionate, skilled, and reliable stylist who thrives in a no-nonsense, client-focused environment, we want to hear from you!

If you are an advanced 3rd Year Apprentice Hairdresser, confident and competent in colour, cutting and foils, we would encourage you to apply.

For a highly motivated senior, management opportunities may be available in the future.

Our Salon is closed Monday and Tuesday and open Wednesday to Sunday. Plus, we close public holidays and 2 weeks over Christmas.

Location:

• Cuts By Carella is a destination salon located at The Pier in Cairns City, close to the docks where cruise liners arrive.
• While general foot traffic is lighter than in major shopping centres, we attract a loyal clientele and cruise ship visitors looking for quality hair services.
• Parking costs $175 per month, which the salon will cover for employees.
• The salon is easily accessible via public transport, with nearby bus stops.

Rate of pay:

• For a local Hairdresser with an established clientele, we would discuss the higher end of the wage bracket.
• Newly qualified stylist: We will pay the Hair and Beauty Award rates during the probation period, with a review for Above-Award wages based on performance and fit for any candidate with less than 5 years’ experience.
• More advanced stylists (5+ years of proven experience): $35–$40 per hour (this rate will only be offered to stylists who can demonstrate strong experience and technical ability).

Who We Are Looking For!

• Fully Qualified Hairdresser with Certificate III in Hairdressing.
• Competency in cutting, colouring, foiling, and styling.
• A genuine, personable approach to client relationships—not a ‘fake professional’ persona.
• Willingness to be featured on social media (no camera-shy applicants).
• Reliability, consistency, and an interest in building your own clientele.
• Comfortable in a salon that serves alcohol to clients.
