Experienced HSEQ Manager required for our growing team

Murchison Mining Services (MMS) is a proudly Western Australian-owned business specialising in underground project and infrastructure works and metal fabrication. We deliver high-quality onsite support for underground projects, ensuring safe and efficient installations and services for our clients, while also supplying a range of fabricated products for use within these underground mining projects

The Opportunity

Due to our continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced and proactive HSEQ Manager to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This newly created role can be based in either Perth or Bunbury, with regular travel to our project sites and Bunbury head office.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, environmental & quality policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and fostering a culture of safety and quality across all operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Policy Development: Design and implement comprehensive HSEQ policies and procedures aligned with current legislation and industry best practices
• Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and site audits to identify hazards and implement effective control measures
• Team Leadership: Oversee and manage Safety & Training Officers to deliver required training programs, ensuring all team members are equipped with up-to-date safety and quality knowledge and practices. Provide support to the operations and project managers as required.
• Incident Management: Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, ensuring accurate reporting and the development of strategies to prevent recurrence.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the business is aware and informed of legislative changes and ensure all HSEQ practices comply with relevant laws and regulations.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and regulatory bodies, to promote and enhance HSEQ standards.

What We Are Looking For

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HSEQ role within the mining industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity overseeing safety and training teams. Underground mining experience is beneficial.
• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety. Relevant certifications such as a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety & Certificate IV in Training & Assessment are highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of Australian health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation and standards.
• Experience in incident Cause Analysis Measures (ICAM) or equivalent beneficial
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 standards, with demonstrable results in guiding a business to achieve these certifications, is highly regarded.

Essential Requirements:

• Current Driver’s License
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, functional assessment, and drug and alcohol screening
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites as required
