About the role

As a Cafe Sous Chef with Substance Espresso, you will be an integral part of the culinary team at our vibrant cafe in Runaway Bay, Queensland. This full-time role will see you working alongside the Head Chef to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our customers.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting the Head Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, plating, and quality control
• Collaborating with the team to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes
• Ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
• Managing and mentoring junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and training as needed
• Effectively communicating with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service
• Contributing to the overall success and growth of the cafe

What we're looking for

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role in a fast-paced cafe or restaurant environment
• Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating delicious, high-quality dishes
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team
• Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
