About the opportunity:

The best of both worlds – work with autonomy and independence whilst also being well supported within a connected and well resourced team. The Disability Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our well-respected clinical team - Trusted Clinical Services.

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing client needs, developing plans and implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour changes. This role requires a compassionate and skilled professional who can work closely with clients, families, and other stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. In this position, you will conduct assessments, provide direct support, and monitor progress, ensuring that our clients receive the highest standard of care. You will also be involved in training and educating families and staff on behaviour management techniques.

If you are not currently a Registered Behaviour Support Practitioner – we can support you with your application to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as part of your induction.

What you will bring to the role:

We are seeking a true person-centred individual, who brings a high level of professionalism and maturity to their work. In addition, you will have:

  • Formal qualification, e.g. Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or Allied Health disciplines, and/or experience in delivering Positive Behaviour Support
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and planning intervention for people who exhibit a range of behaviours of concern; especially high-risk behaviours
  • An understanding of relevant policy and legislation relating to Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices at a National and State/Territory level, including the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Capability Framework
  • Experience delivering supports in a culturally sensitive manner
  • A willingness to work and train in culturally appropriate approaches
  • Sound IT skills and experience using Word, Excel and client management systems
  • Driver Licence, own car and a willingness to travel

About our amazing benefits:

This position is based at our Bruce Office and will require travel to our other areas of operation. This is a full-time position, offering a remuneration package inclusive of travel and phone allowance of $96,000 - $112,000 (to be negotiated based on experience and qualifications) plus superannuation.

At The Disability Trust, we are person-centred, people focused, and proudly diverse. We recognise the value of our employees and also provide a range of benefits including:

  • Access to generous salary packaging (including tax-free earnings of up to $15,900)
  • 5 weeks annual leave per annum for rest and recreation
  • Option for Flexible Public Holiday leave for days of cultural or religious significance
  • An extensive paid learning and development offering
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Access to Fitness Passport, discounted unlimited access to multiple gyms and pools
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program for you and members of your immediate family

What's next?

This is a challenging yet rewarding role where you will work alongside people who are committed to enabling people to live the life they choose. We look forward to receiving your cover letter addressing the selection criteria above along with a current resume. To discuss this opportunity before applying, please contact Erin Verberne, our Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner via e: [email protected] or (03) 7043 7454
