About the role
The Place For Belonging is seeking a number of energetic and vibrant Disability Support Workers to join our team in the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay regions. In this vital role, you will provide personalised support to individuals with mental health disabilities, empowering them to live independently and participate actively in their community. With multiple roles based in Buderim, QLD and Caboolture QLD, this is an excellent opportunity to truly make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you support.

We work with each family and individual to establish their own support team to ensure a positive, consistent and collective approach is achieved. What you'll be doing
- Supporting multiple clients with self-care activities, community access, respite and SIL
- Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Facilitating community access and participation, including accompanying clients to social events, appointments, and recreational activities
- Providing emotional support and encouraging client independence and self-care
- Documenting client progress and maintaining accurate records in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Collaborating with the broader care team to ensure seamless and coordinated support

You will have:
- A positive attitude with high energy levels and the ability to have fun with Participants, tempered with strength and adaptability to deal calmly with challenging situations and complex behaviours with a rational approach
- The ability to work as part of a team to support Participants achieve their goals
- Exceptional listening and communication skills, with the ability to recognise and interpret non-verbal cues
- A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities
What experience and skills will you need?
- A minimum of 6 months' experience in a disability support or similar care role supporting participants with psychosocial/mental health disabilities such as ADD, ADHD, OCD, ODD, Autism, PTSD, Bipolar and Schizophrenia
- A minimum of a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or other community service qualifications or experience within the industry (e.g. disability, mental health, community services or youth work etc.)
- A positive attitude with high energy levels and a demonstrated ability to have fun with Participants, tempered with strength and adaptability to deal calmly with challenging situations and complex behaviours with a rational approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs
- A strong understanding of the NDIS and relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
- A valid Blue & Yellow Card together with a current Drivers Licence
