About the Role…
The primary purpose of this position is for the Workplace Mentor to engage, support and provide guidance to Australian Apprentices and Employers, primarily in the workplace, to improve the retention rate of Australian Apprentices overall. In this role, the Workplace Mentor will be required to engage with employers and apprentices, formally or informally, who may be having difficulties with the apprenticeship relationship, and any other relevant stakeholders who require assistance. This role will require regular and daily travel in order for the Workplace Mentor to be able to successfully support all relevant stakeholders.
This role is full time, fixed term until 30/6/26 with possibility of extension, based in Hobart with the ability to travel when required throughout the region.

A bit about you...
- Qualifications or currently studying either social work, counselling or psychology;
- Formal studies in the area of coaching or mentoring;
- In the absence of existing suitable qualifications; prepared to undertake a Diploma of Counselling or similar within the first year of employment
- Experience in social sciences, behavioural sciences, youth work or a discipline relevant to community development and services;
- Proven experience in leading, motivating and communicating with a broad range of groups and individuals;
- Highly developed interpersonal skills - ability to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, gain their confidence and build a sense of mutual understanding of needs and objectives;
- Ability to obtain a Working With Children Check and National Police Check
