About the Role
As a Grounds & Maintenance Officer, you will ensure that our buildings, facilities, and gardens remain safe, functional, and visually appealing. Your work will have a direct impact on residents, staff, and visitors, creating a clean and comfortable environment for all.
- Groundskeeping: Maintain gardens, mow lawns and croquet court, prune trees, and remove garden waste.
- General Maintenance: Perform repairs, installations, and upkeep of facilities.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work meets safety regulations and maintenance
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on buildings and equipment.
- Maintain and improve outdoor areas, including gardens, pathways, and lawns.
- Ensure safe and clean environments for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Assist contractors and supervise maintenance workers or volunteers when needed.
- Keep records of maintenance activities and follow safety compliance procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on experience in maintenance, landscaping, or building repairs, preferably within community or aged care.
- Knowledge of garden care—mowing, pruning, and general outdoor upkeep.
- Experience with irrigation systems is highly regarded.
- Good knowledge of plants and their care in various environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative with a proactive approach to tasks and the ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to use tools and maintenance equipment effectively and safely.
- Willing and able to work in a small, supportive team environment.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude and good communication skills.
Requirements
- Relevant trade certifications in maintenance, horticulture or a related field and knowledge of Work Health and Safety requirements.
- Twelve months’ experience in a maintenance role.
- A current National Police Certificate, NDIS Worker Screening Check (or the ability to obtain).
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks and operate machinery safely.
- Current driver’s licence.
