As a Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker, working within the Aboriginal Community Connect team, you will provide effective counselling, case management and group work to Aboriginal individuals and families.
We're offering a Part Time (0.8FTE) , 12-Month role (with possibility of extension) , based in Prospect, with rewarding outreach work in Murray Bridge.
What is Aboriginal Community Connect? (ACC)
Aboriginal Community Connect provides a holistic, culturally safe space for individuals seeking support to address their use of alcohol and other drugs. We are here to assist with social and emotional wellbeing, housing support for those visiting Adelaide, and guidance in navigating the effects of trauma. Our services emphasize the importance of cultural connection as a vital part of healing and preventing relapse.
Responsibilities and duties may include:
- Be responsible to provide culturally appropriate counselling / case management services to Aboriginal individuals and families;
- Facilitate group work and activities that encourage cultural connection
- Coordinate and engage clients in residential Rehabilitation program
- Develop and implement early intervention group work, incorporating cultural practices;
- Work from community development approaches;
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and community groups.
The successful applicant will possess a passion and commitment for helping Aboriginal individuals and families to make positive, long-term change and have a desire to work in an integrated manner with other team members and external services to achieve this. They will be willing to work within Uniting Communities' philosophy and values.
