Our client is a leading D&C fit out & interiors business with capabilities including design, construction and project management. They handle commercial, office, medical, hospitality, industrial and retail fit out projects across the state. The business has built a sterling reputation and is well regarded for their high-quality work and ability to understand their clients’ unique needs. With an abundance of business growth, they are now seeking a Business Development Manager to continue the expansion and diversity of their business projects.

You will be responsible in identifying new business opportunities through leads and new clients to target from planning and consultation through to delivery, the projects through the department, liaising internally with the project team, suppliers’ clients and many others. You will also, play a major role in the success of the business by ensuring that profit potential and growth are in line with company vision and values. Establish and execute plans/strategies to meet budgets and develop the business in line with the company’s overall initiates.

Role and responsibilities will include:

  • Prospecting for new leads potentially entering the Australian market.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts, and integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Strategically sell to ensure each department has sufficient work at the right times to ensure revenue and profit targets can be met.
  • Maintaining relationships with key clients including client entertainment.
  • Responsible for company lead generation, appointment setting and successfully managing the sales process.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of company marketing materials, including online and print formats including sales brochures, capability statements and tender templates.
  • Accurately forecast annual, quarterly and monthly revenue streams.
  • Run weekly sales meetings including minuted meetings.
  • Manage portfolio of accounts/clients.
  • Responding to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Networking through various channels to ensure the company is aware of upcoming opportunities where relevant.
  • Ensuring client expectations are met in terms of quality.
  • Customer retention and timely resolution of client issues/disputes.
  • Weekly reporting.

Experience and Knowledge required:

  • Experience in sales, business development and/or relationship management of at least 5 years in a design and/or construction industry of commercial project fit out related.
  • Proven ability in managing a variety of client portfolios.
  • Confident negotiator and ability to ‘close the deal’.
  • Capable of hands on problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions.
  • Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, presentation and strong client management skills with ability to keep promises.
  • A positive and determined approach to researching and analysing new business opportunities.
  • Ability to use own initiative and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to cope with competing demands and to prioritise tasks and excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Capable of working independently, and having responsibility as an individual.
