APS5 Legal Practice and Capability Officer

  • $55.24 per hour + super
  • Canberra, Deakin – Brand New Office
  • 6-month contract + 6-month extension

On behalf of a large Federal Government Agency, we are looking for an APS5 Legal Practice and Capability Officer. This role will work as part of the Legal Practice and Capability Branch Team. This team supports the organisation across a range of activities including recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, strategic reporting and projects across the division. This is a 6-month assignment with 6- month extension based in Deakin.

The APS5 Legal Practice and Capability Officer will have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex enquiries.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding and working within the NDIS and ART legislative frameworks, ensuring adherence with statutory timeframes.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders, including the Tribunal, internal and external lawyers and case managers, achieving work area and Agency goals by providing administrative and other support.
  • Researching and assessing business system information, creating ART case summaries or work area documents including draft responses for ART correspondence, complaints and FOI requests.
  • Managing and completing administrative tasks in fast paced working environment.
  • Contributing towards the continuous improvement of processes and procedural documents impacting the various functions within the team by providing feedback and suggestions.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Ability to work in a high paced team, managing multiple tasks at hand.
  • Attention to detail with good administrative skills and computer literacy.
  • Effective planning, scheduling, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  • Methodical and process driven.
  • Experience working with data analytics
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Be willing to undergo an Australian Federal Police Check and completion of the Agency’s screening checks, including; Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check.
