The role

Reporting to the Director, Forensic Medicine Queensland (FMQ), the Nurse Educator Forensic Medicine is a member of the FMQ Education team. You will provide expert leadership and education to Hospital and Health Service forensic examination services across Queensland. You will also be involved in research projects to ensure that forensic training is underpinned by evidence based principles and implement reform initiatives to improve education and service delivery.

This is a great opportunity to travel to Hospital and Health Services throughout Queensland, meet our passionate and dedicated rural clinicians and develop an understanding of local challenges. You will also participate in clinical forensic service delivery rosters in Brisbane.

The successful person

  • Proven ability to provide expert education, learning and development opportunities inclusive of expert and contemporary adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated advanced leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management skills to ensure trauma informed and victim centric service provision to sexual assault victims.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders including executive teams, state-wide multi-agency, multi-disciplinary groups and services to improve the sexual assault response service within Queensland Health.
  • Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills.
  • A willingness to regularly travel intra-state to deliver and support forensic medical examination training to clinicians.
  • Commitment to the ongoing development of clinical, forensic and personal skills.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards.
  • Commitment to pursue opportunities for ongoing professional development of self and others.
  • Understanding of learning and development in a health care environment (adult learning principles) with demonstrated facilitation skills.
