The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Research Development team for a full-time Senior Grants Development Officer.

Working with the Research Development team at The Kids Research Institute Australia and reporting to the Manager of Grants and Research Development, this role is integral in providing research grants administration and development support.

Research Development is responsible for coordinating applications, and administering funds, for externally and internally funded competitive research grants, and fellowships to build excellence in research which will improve the health and wellbeing of children.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Managing the day-to-day operational aspects of the grant support process.
  • Assisting researchers to identify and apply for funding opportunities including grants and fellowships.
  • Working with researchers to ensure grant applications are of the highest quality and ensuring research grants are submitted on time and comply with funding requirements.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including researchers, funding bodies and our university partners.

About You

Does this sound like you?

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in Science or Communications, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
  • A customer focus with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including editorial skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively while also being able to work as part of a wider team.
  • Sound working knowledge of computing applications including database management systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of national and state competitive health research grant opportunities from government and non-government sources, in particular NHMRC and ARC (highly desirable, but not essential).

Conveniently based at Perth Children’s Hospital, this role is full time for a 12-month period covering maternity leave, with the possibility of an extension. An FTE of 0.8 will be considered for the right candidate.
