Bendigo Heritage Attractions (BHA) is seeking an experienced Cabinet & Carpentry Technician to restore heritage trams!
Founded on one of the world’s richest goldfields, Bendigo is a vibrant regional city with a strong arts, culture and food scene. A not-for-profit organisation, BHA is responsible for the management of Bendigo’s leading heritage tourist attractions: Central Deborah Gold Mine, Bendigo Tramways and the Bendigo Joss House Temple. In addition to tourist operations, BHA also runs a successful manufacturing arm at the Bendigo Tramways Workshop, undertaking restoration and tram repurposing projects for a range of clients.
As a Cabinet & Carpentry Technician you'll will restore woodwork on trams including where necessary making replacement parts. In addition to woodwork the role has a heavy focus on all aspects of tram restoration and maintenance.
The Cabinet & Carpentry Technician duties include:
- Undertake woodwork restoration and repairs to trams.
- Assist with all areas of the workshop including maintenance and restoration work.
- Contribute to proactive and reactive activities within the workshop, BHA sites and assets.
- Conduct cleaning and maintenance of workshop equipment.
- Work collaboratively with Coordinator – Workshop to contribute to training and mentoring team members
- Assist the delivery of internal & external works on commercial projects.
- Assist with the development of quotes and cost tracking reports.
- Actively participate in promoting a safe work environment.
- Participate in the on-call activities as required.
- Other tasks as required within skills and experience.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Cabinetmaker or carpenter trade desirable
- A strong can-do attitude and a willingness to take on tasks outside of the primary scope woodwork restoration.
- Ability to work autonomously on projects and tasks.
- Ability to follow specific work instructions.
- Forklift licence, White Card, Working safely at heights, and any other licences are an advantage.
- High level organisation and time management skills, with proven attention to detail.
- Able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills – MS Word and Excel, SharePoint, email, and internet are an advantage.
Special requirements:
- Current driver’s licence
- Working with Children Check (Mandatory)
- High Risk Work Licence – Elevated Work Platforms (or willingness to obtain)
- Working at Heights certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 7.00am -3.30pm
Friday: 7.00am -1.30pm
