About the Role
The role, reporting to the Group Leaders Parks and Gardens, will be suited for an individual with experience in Slasher Operations and Turf Maintenance Fields. What matters most to us though, is your passion for the local community, your dedication to creating vibrant spaces, and your commitment to making a difference. Attitude is everything!
The Parks and Gardens Worker - Turf will also be responsible for;
- Operating Council’s gardening equipment and deliver the maintenance and development of Council’s parks, gardens, street trees and reserves to maintenance standards and intervention levels
- Be customer focused and work independently towards resolutions of work outcomes
- Participating in, and administering strong Work, Health and Safety policies and procedures
- To undertake the mowing/maintenance of natural areas, roadsides, parks & gardens
- Assist in the maintenance and planting of revegetation area.
- Assist in the delivery of the roadside slashing and maintenance program
- To operate tractor slasher and mowing plant & equipment
- Assist in the delivery of Council’s Woody Weed Control program
- Participate in the tree maintenance team when required in accordance with Councils specifications and guidelines for tree works
- To communicate with the general public in a professional and courteous manner
About You

Essential criteria
- Experience in operation and maintenance of large tractors, slashers, mowing decks
- Truck (MR) licence
- Level 3 in Horticulture Certificate, or demonstrated knowledge and experience
- White card
- Chainsaw certificate
- Experience in safe operation of plant & equipment
- Experience in relevant aspects of horticulture and arboriculture work
- Experience in Landscaping related works
- Experience in target pruning of trees.
- Experience of working in a team environment.
- Experience in prioritising own workload
- Work-zone Traffic Management Certification
Desirable criteria
- Experience in Local Government
- First Aid / CPR training
