ABOUT THE ROLE

The Local Industry Futures Training (LIFT) program at HBNC is seeking a dynamic and passionate Trainer and Youth Worker to deliver the Industry Ready 10-week training project. This project aims to improve the employability skills of vulnerable individuals, enhance their connection to the community through group education, and ultimately support their journey toward meaningful employment.

The role involves facilitating group programs, collaborating with local service providers and businesses, and fostering pathways to employment. You’ll also recruit participants, engage with human services networks, and contribute to the development of community-led initiatives aligned with the program’s goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating group programs focused on employability, life skills, and community connections.
  • Coordinating guest speaker sessions and engaging with employment agencies.
  • Recruiting participants through local human services and employment sector networks.
  • Fostering partnerships to support participants in community and employment pathways.
  • Transporting participants to program-related activities.

ABOUT YOU

To excel in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Training and Assessment or similar (essential)
  • Extensive knowledge of the challenges faced by unemployed individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in group facilitation, training delivery, and program development.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant digital tools.
  • A valid driver’s license, Working with Children Suitability Card, and ability to pass a Police Check.

Desirable qualifications include a degree or higher tertiary qualification in Human Services or a related field.

SELECTION CRITERIA

SC1: Demonstrated expertise in delivering targeted interventions for unemployed individuals, including mediation, case management, and facilitating life skills and employment readiness programs.
SC2: Experience in engaging with employers to create employment opportunities for participants.
SC3: Proven ability to collaborate with local organizations to design and implement supportive initiatives for vulnerable individuals.
SC4: Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills, including report writing, conflict resolution, and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.

The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre is located in the rapidly growing sea change community of Hervey Bay and has become well known as a community meeting place. The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre was founded 1989 as a community-based initiative to provide help, friendship and support to the most disenfranchised people in the community. The emphasis of all of our activities is on people and the relief of issues and concerns that impede them from living a successful and happy life.

We develop and deliver programs and services in response to community need. Presently, the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre manages 30 funded programs that encompass aspects of aged care, family services, diversity and social isolation.
