About Us: Ability Advocates fights for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities through non-legal advocacy, workplace and community programs, and Disability Employment Services. We serve all individuals with disabilities and workplaces, regardless of funding. Our support extends to assisting individuals in their homes and the community with life skills and community participation, including the elderly.

Position Purpose: As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support to clients with disabilities and aged care needs. Your responsibilities include assisting clients in various settings, such as individual homes, community environments, and workplaces. You will help them build necessary skills, promote independence, and enhance their overall quality of life. The support worker role at Ability Advocates is outcomes-based with the aim to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and aged care needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to clients with disabilities and aged care needs, following individualised care plans.
• Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Perform aged care in-home tasks such as medication management, wound care, and mobility assistance.
• Foster a positive and empowering environment for clients.
• Accompany clients to community outings, medical appointments, and social activities.
• Collaborate with other team members, families, and external stakeholders.
• Document client progress and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or Aged Care (preferred).
• Experience working with people with disabilities and/or aged care needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
• Comfortable with personal care and support tasks.
• Willingness to travel, focusing on shifts in Western Sydney, Blacktown, surrounding suburbs of Parramatta, and Hurstville.

Working Hours:

• On a monthly roster

Pay Range:

• Disability Support: SCHADS Award Level 2.1 - 2.4, with hourly rates ranging from $31.75 to $34.04.
• Aged Care: Aged Care Award Level 1 - 7, with hourly rates ranging from $24.87 to $30.13.
