About the Role
As a Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy services to older adults.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & Rehabilitation
- Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments to determine pain levels, mobility, strength, balance, and functional capacity.
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans to support pain management, strength, and functional independence.
- Prescribe and lead rehabilitation programs for clients recovering from falls, fractures, joint replacements, and neurological conditions.
- Implement falls prevention programs, balance retraining, and functional mobility programs tailored to client needs.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (nurses, carers, OTs, and allied health professionals) to provide holistic care.
- Prescribe and fit mobility aids (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs, orthotics) and provide education on proper use.
- Provide hands-on therapy, including manual therapy, soft tissue release, and joint mobilisation when clinically appropriate.
Strength & Conditioning
- Develop and facilitate group exercise programs targeting strength, endurance, and mobility.
- Encourage clients to participate in functional activities to maintain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Educate clients and caregivers on safe movement techniques, home exercise programs, and injury prevention strategies.
Community & Social Participation
- Assist clients in regaining confidence to access their community, including outdoor mobility and navigating public spaces.
- Support older adults in returning to hobbies, work, and social participation through graded physical activity.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in line with Aged Care Quality Standards and NDIS compliance.
- Prepare progress reports and recommendations for clients, families, and care providers.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans based on reassessments.
Education & Training
- Provide training and guidance to care staff and family members on safe handling techniques and mobility support.
- Stay up to date with best practices in aged care physiotherapy and contribute to professional development sessions.
What We Are Looking For
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy or Equivalent.
- Full AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an Australian aged care setting.
- Full working rights in Australia (citizen, PR, or unrestricted visa).
- Current National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- A genuine passion for aged care and a client-centred approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
