The Infection Prevention and Control Lead is responsible for the organisations infection prevention and control (IPC) program, which is designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our residents and to help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections.
Must Haves
- Registration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (AHPRA)
- Department of Health recognised Infection Prevention and Control training
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to use judgement and initiative when performing duties
- Ability to demonstrate the highest level of customer service and response
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders including team members, residents, clients, and persons responsible
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to utilise a range of software applications
- Proven ability to be adaptable to various competing demands
- Demonstrated competence in delivering services that ensures clients and residents are safe
- Demonstrated proactive approach to problem solving with strong decision-making capability
- Commitment to and willingness to participate in continuing training and education related to your area
- Understanding of living and working within small regional community
- National Police Check
- Immunisation History Statement
What we would like you to have
- Relevant post graduate training or education in aged care or acute medical care
- Previous experience working as an Infection Prevention and Control Lead
- Experience in providing aged, general, and urgent nursing care
- Contemporary generalist nursing knowledge and experience
- NSW Driver's License
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role

Sounds fantastic! but what will you be doing?
- Providing clear communication and support to management, who retains overall responsibility for the IPC role
- Provide advice and oversight as part of the ongoing day to day operations. This includes the resident mix, staff mix, services offered and physical aspects of the facility
- Use your skills to lead the creation and updating of procedures including Outbreak Management Plans to reflect best practice and current legislative and regulatory requirements
- Have the capacity to monitor IPC practices within the facility to determine where shortfalls may exist and implement appropriate actions
- Use your ability and skills to provide reliable advice to both staff and management to ensure IPC responsibilities are upheld
- Develop systems for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff, and visitors
- Assess the need for, develop, and present IPC education sessions as needed
- Keeping up to date with the current knowledge of Federal, State and Local restrictions
- Demonstrating a sound understanding of the Aged Quality Standards
- Participate in the continuous improvement activities

Our lovely facility consists of a 52-bed low care wing and a 30-bed high care wing.
