About the role
As Librarian, Monographs and Digital Collections, you will be responsible for acquisition and access of mainly non-subscription resources and textbooks. Your primary focus is to acquire, maintain and troubleshoot library resources requiring a higher degree of complexity or workflow in both electronic and physical formats.

You will lead projects for Digital Collections, which comprise of a variety of RMIT-created, digitised or licensed resources for learning, teaching, marketing and promotional purposes. You will contribute and assist with the development and testing of new workflows and/or software, including the provision of training and explanation of procedures. Technological advancements, such as AI will be an integral part of the role.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, including critical analysis and evaluation for the acquisition, access and management of library resources.
  • Proven ability to lead library collection related projects.
  • Well-developed knowledge of automated Library systems, preferably Ex Libris products (eg. Alma and Specto), with a solid understanding of relevant library resource data formats, industry description standard types and schemas (such as HTML, Dublin Core, XML, RDA and MARC), and acquisitions and access workflows.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills including the ability to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency for using a range of software applications (e.g. Microsoft Excel, MarcEdit, FTP and S3) to manipulate bibliographic and associated records, and large datasets.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement with a readiness to be adaptable while working in an agile environment

At RMIT Vietnam, the Library supports over 9,000 students from 2 locations: Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. All libraries are networked for wireless. They provide flexible spaces for individual and group study, computer equipped group study rooms and seminar rooms for academic and library research skills training.
