About the role

As a Trade Assistant at Porter Equipment Australia Pty Ltd, you will play a crucial role in supporting our skilled tradespeople and ensuring the smooth operation of our workshop in Newcastle, NSW. This full-time position will involve assisting with a variety of hands-on tasks to help maintain and repair our client's heavy machinery and equipment.

What you'll be doing

• Providing general assistance to qualified tradespeople, such as mechanics and technicians
• Preparing work areas and equipment for maintenance and repair jobs
• Performing basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and organising tools and parts
• Assisting with the assembly, disassembly, and transportation of heavy machinery components
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment
• Washing and detailing of all New, Used and Hire Equipment
• Cleaning of yard, wash bay and workshop
• Following all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe workplace

What we're looking for

• Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new skills
• Basic mechanical aptitude and experience working with tools
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safety
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour tasks
• Fork lift ticket
• Experience around heavy earthmoving equipment.
