Position Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous Bank Reconciliation Specialist to manage and oversee our financial reconciliation processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of retail operations, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work proactively in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily reconciliations of retail store banking transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate and report discrepancies in store banking variances, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Reconcile online store banking transactions, ensuring alignment with internal records.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet bank reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of any discrepancies.
- Oversee merchant facility requirements for all stores, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
- Minimize, investigate, and report all chargebacks, working to reduce financial losses.
- Manage the issuance and reconciliation of gift vouchers and credit notes.
- Assist in finance procedures related to the opening and closing of stores, collaborating with team members to ensure seamless transitions.
- Process and follow up on accounts receivable, ensuring timely collections and accurate record-keeping.
- Execute month-end processes and procedures, including managing banking stationery and float confirmations.
- Assist with annual audit reporting requirements, providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships to support financial operations.
- Engage in ad hoc reporting, analysis, and project work aimed at process improvement and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a reconciliation-focused role, preferably within the retail industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Understanding of relevant regulations and policies.
