Established in 1992, IWA Australia is a not-for-profit organisation working in the community sector providing various services like Aged Care, Settlement, Disability and Community Development to communities across SE Qld, NSW and Vic. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Finance Officer to join our team in Brisbane.
As finance officer, is to perform a range of accounting functions to ensure the financial accountability is according to Australian Taxation Office (ATO), Australian Charity and Not for profit commission (ACNC), ASIC, and all of the various funding body guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping tasks
- Accounts payables, receivables, general journal entries
- Payroll
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of bank statements, petty cash and client invoices
Administrative:
- Workcover, separation certificates etc.
- Maintain a system of record keeping in accordance with the payroll including staff records in regard to timesheets, mileage records, leave request/taken, sick leave, holidays, long service, TOIL, etc
- Ensure service contracts and relevant insurance remain up to date
Reporting:
- Assist in generating MYOB reports
- Assist in the preparation of financial data for funding applications
- Ensure that IWA assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate
- Assist in obtaining data for financial statements/acquittals are prepared in accordance with contract agreements with funders
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects
Training and other:
- Provide advice, supervision, training and support to other members of the finance team
- Attend meetings regularly, including staff meetings, and meetings with Senior Managers or as directed.
- To set up in advance, duties and responsibilities for the fellow Finance Officer and to ensure allocated duties are performed by other finance staff
Financial Management Support
- To provide financial administrative support and technical information to the Finance Manager including implementation and review of office policies and procedures for the correspondence,
- Ensure timely support in the completion of organisation financial audit by providing supporting documents or as required by Finance Manager.
- Perform other duties from time to time as assigned by Finance Manager
Key Selection Criteria:
- Relevant qualifications/experience (Minimum Bookkeeping certification, preference for Bachelor business/accounting)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in accounting including accounts payables, receivables and payroll
- Computer literacy and administrative knowledge and ability to continuously update this knowledge
- Knowledge of the MYOB accounting system
- Ability to perform under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Good time management skills including the ability to prioritise urgent tasks
