Key responsibilities
The purpose of the Senior Application Developer (GIS) role is to provide development, support, and maintenance services primarily on GIS platforms.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Promote the optimisation of Transport and Main Road's (TMR) information architecture and application development process, by providing technical advice and reports to support effective management decisions.
• Promote information technology best practice within TMR by coaching other technical staff in effective system development techniques and proactively reviewing technical documentation, including standards, system design and coding.
• Undertake systems analysis, application design, programming, unit testing, documentation, implementation, and support to deliver business requirements.
• Lead in the implementation of quality improvement programs in information management, information systems, information technology and telecommunications.
• Lead in the research, recommendations and developing solutions in within the application development environment.

Requirements of the role
• A degree in information technology or equivalent would be beneficial.
• Strong proficiency in GIS technologies including:
o ArcGIS; GeoCortex; FME, GIS data sources such as Oracle, PostGres/GIS and/or GIS data formats; Python; C#; JavaScript; HTML5.
• Proficiency in designing and developing scalable and efficient GIS systems.
• Experience with cloud-based GIS solutions and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
