Your role
As a Geospatial Intelligence Analyst, you’ll play a key role in keeping command informed by creating accurate, engaging maps and other geospatial intelligence products. You’ll play a critical role by providing command with an overall assessment of the operating environment. The products and advice you produce will influence the decision-making of senior commanders across the ADF.
Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:
- capturing, collecting and exploiting geospatial data from desktop sources, equipment or imagery
- managing geospatial data and information
- manipulating, enhancing and analysing geospatial data
- providing geospatial support products including maps, terrain analysis and 3D visualisations
- providing advice as it relates to geospatial information and intelligence.

Location:
Following training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases across Australia, or to a specialist facility for specific roles. You may also be deployed to temporary facilities on combat, disaster relief, peacekeeping and aid provision operations.
Salary:
Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $58,528 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.
On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you’ll enjoy a package starting from $87,929 per annum.
Eligibility:
For this role, you must:
- Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF
- Have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics
- Be an Australian citizen. If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details
- Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
- Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
