The School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Auditorium Technician to join our team, supporting the daily operations of our state of the art performance venue, the Allan Shaw Centre.
The Allan Shaw Centre is a dynamic, multi-purpose space that supports a range of School bookings, including services, assemblies, productions and exhibitions. Additionally, the venue is a sought after cultural hub within the northern corridor, regularly hosting large scale events including concerts, gala dinners, ceremonies and international dance competitions.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the technical production of a broad spectrum of events, including sound, lighting, staging, multimedia and projection. This role offers the potential for growth and development, including support for additional studies and skills.
This ongoing position is a full time role and involves working evening, late night and weekend work. Start date by negotiation.
Salary offered is dependent on experience, between $62,945 and $69,674 per annum for 1.0FTE, plus superannuation at the statutory rate and leave loading.

Key Responsibilities
- Providing technical assistance for internal events including chapels, assemblies, productions, concerts and formal events in the Auditorium.
- Providing technical assistance for external events including corporate events, dance shows, musical productions and general venue hire.
- Setting up analogue and digital stage lighting, audio, data and vision systems.
- Building sets, rigging lighting, stage drapery, scenic cloths and props.
- Operating and balancing audio, video and lighting systems under concert, formal and performance conditions.
- Training and mentoring students as technical assistants and running of daily events with a student team.
- Undertaking daily maintenance in the building ensuring the building is always clean, tidy and operational.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Experience in a similar role handling technical equipment (audio, lighting, audio visuals).
- Experience of live sound mixing (preferably using the Allen and Heath SQ7 desk as well as analogue sound desks).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Willingness to support students to learn new technical skills.
- Enthusiasm and creativity.
- Committed and collaborative team player.
- Ability to trouble shoot, problem solve and show initiative.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Good keyboard and data input skills.
- Proficient in MS Office.
Desirable Selection Criteria
- A qualification in Technical Theatre at tertiary level.
- Previous experience working in a professional theatre.
- Previous experience working in a school setting.
- Conversant with the MA DOT2 lighting console.
- First Aid and CPR training certificates.
