Visitor Experience Coordinator, Everglades

An exciting opportunity for a Visitor Experience Coordinator with an appreciation of heritage to coordinate visitor services at our incredible Art Deco property in the Blue Mountains – Everglades House and Gardens. Coordinate visitor activities to deliver an exceptional visitor experience for audiences at this unique heritage property.

Overview

The National Trust of Australia (NSW) is a not-for-profit, community based charity which has been in operation for more than 75 years. Our vision is to bring the heritage of New South Wales to life now and into the future through advocating for the conservation and protection of our built, cultural and natural heritage.

Everglades House & Gardens is a property of the National Trust of Australia (NSW) best known for its spectacular European inspired inter-war period garden and an Art Deco house, set amongst native bushland with views of the Blue Mountains; it is considered a highly significant historic property which attracts many visitors.

The Visitor Experience Coordinator has responsibility for all aspects of the visitor experience and ensuring Everglades is a welcoming, accessible and inclusive environment.

This role offers a unique and exciting opportunity to help activate the site’s potential as a year-round cultural tourism destination in the Blue Mountains.

About the Role - What you’ll be doing

We are seeking an engaging and charismatic person to coordinate visitor activities on site including group bookings, venue hire, tours, events and open days.

You will also work closely with a small team of staff and enthusiastic volunteers in areas of activity such as reception, retail, and administration to ensure a positive experience for all visitors.

Ideally, this role will suit someone who has a deep understanding of what makes a good visitor experience and can demonstrate exceptional people skills.

About you - Who we’re looking for

It’s a key role at a significant heritage site and we need someone who can take on a challenge. To deliver this role successfully you’ll need to have:

  • A keen eye for detail, taking on responsibility for all aspects of the visitor experience at a heritage site.
  • Experience in activating commercial opportunities, including venue hire, events and partnership programs.
  • Flexibility, practicality and versatility to manage disparate tasks and competing priorities.
  • An understanding of the aims and ethos of the National Trust, in particular the ambition for developing the financial sustainability of the properties.
  • A passion for enabling access to cultural heritage sites and ensuring all visitors feel welcome.

Some understanding or exposure to café/tearoom activities would also be desirable as you will have responsibility for organising catering on occasion and supporting the tea rooms by rostering volunteers for tearoom operations

We’re looking for someone who is innovative and knows how to bring a property to life in ways that engage the community while still honouring our conservation ideals. We offer a flexible work environment and value the highest levels of professionalism.

You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this job.
