About RSPCA WA
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) WA is the state's leading voice in animal welfare. RSPCA WA is managed locally but works toward the goals of the organisation Australia-wide. On an average day, we employ around 100 staff, and we have the support of an amazing group of volunteers. Together, our team works diligently toward preventing animal cruelty.
About this opportunity
This is our key front-line role in enforcing the Animal Welfare Act 2002. Reporting to the Inspector Manager the Inspectors work as part of a dedicated team who are responsible for investigating reports of animal cruelty and educating the public on animal welfare. In some instances, these investigations result in criminal prosecutions where you are responsible for putting together briefs and working with our legal team to take these matters to court. Primarily though, this is a small part of what we do, we aim to prevent cruelty by working with the WA Community in a compassionate and meaningful way.
This role is full-time, 38 hours per week, based in Perth metro locations. Historically, RSPCA WA Inspectors have worked on their own, but we have now transitioned to two up model where all Inspectors work in a pair. This role will work on a rotating weekend roster to provide statewide coverage and will be based out of Malaga. Generally, you would start your day by attending our shelter location in Malaga to pick up your vehicle and organise the day. This role also includes travelling to regional locations such as Kalgoorlie, Geraldton, Albany, Southwest and Broome on a rotating roster/as needed basis.
Many people want to work at RSPCA WA because they feel they are “animal” people, not “people” people, this role requires someone who has excellent communication and enjoys working with people, and as part of a team, to assist the community on a daily basis.

About RSPCA WA
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Western Australia (RSPCA WA) was established 120 years ago and is the state’s oldest, largest and leading animal welfare charity.
RSPCA WA’s aim is to protect all animals from cruelty by actively promoting public awareness about animal welfare and advocating for improvements in the way people relate to animals. We work with governments, community and farming groups, helping animals by showing people how.
Our RSPCA Inspectors enforce the Animal Welfare Act 2002 protecting animals from cruelty, dealing with more than 16,000 cruelty complaints every year, prosecuting offenders and rescuing animals from dangerous situations. All our staff and volunteers help to prevent cruelty by working with people of all ages, especially children and young people, to promote the value and meaning of animals in our lives.
