About the role
The Herston Biofabrication Institute (HBI) is advancing knowledge and technology through combination of medical, healthcare and engineering disciplines and focuses on development of personalised medical device point-of-care services. HBI is partnered with The University of Queensland (see appendix: Team Structure) and this relationship facilitates translational activities to be efficiently carried out for the improvement of healthcare outcomes.

In conjunction with the Clinical Director, this role will set strategic direction, manage business operations, support the personal and professional development of staff, and provide expert advocacy for product development activities which are linked to clinical care and research conducted at the Institute. This role will also maintain and develop existing strategic partnerships and key relationships and be responsible for exploring new opportunities.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the relevant local and international regulatory guidelines for personalised medical products relevant to the strategic focus within the HBI.
- Provide flexible and innovative solutions to challenges in an expanding, diverse and complex department applying novel technological solutions to surgical care where national and international regulatory guidelines are constantly evolving simultaneously, to maximise staff engagement, service provision and patient outcomes.
- Utilise and apply complex problem-solving skills for the development and expansion of professional standards, policies, education, training and research relating to HBI.

It is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role as a valuable member of the Metro North workforce, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), by actively supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; supporting increased access to health care; influencing the social, cultural and economic determinants of health; supporting the delivery of sustainable, culturally safe and responsive health services; and recognise the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations to design, deliver, monitor and review the health and support services we provide.
