About The Opportunity
Are you flexible, adaptable, and driven? The Drug Health Services team at South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is looking for a passionate Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) or Clinical Midwifery Consultant (CMC) to join our Substance Use in Parenting and Pregnancy Service (SUPPS).

SUPPS is a dedicated service supporting pregnant women experiencing problematic substance use. We provide intake assessments and treatment services for pregnant women with current or recent substance use, case management support during pregnancy and postpartum, and plans to extend care to families for up to two years postnatally.

We are seeking a dynamic, engaging professional who is passionate about supporting mothers with substance use issues, their babies, and their families, using a trauma-informed approach.

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CMC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership.

The CMC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CMC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

How do you ensure that communication barriers, cultural differences, or hierarchies do not hinder effective collaboration and understanding among members of the multidisciplinary team?

Describe your experience in case management for complex care patients, particularly in the context of pregnancy and postnatal care. How did you collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes?

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Midwife/Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
    At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation. Drug and Alcohol experience is essential.

  2. How do you actively maintain your expertise and stay updated with the latest clinical advancements and research in your specialty? Can you provide an example of how you've implemented new findings or innovations into your clinical practice?
