Some engineers like coding. Others like getting their hands on hardware. This role needs both.

This organisation is a major player in advanced industrial automation, designing control systems that blend software and hardware—with C#-based software from their global R&D team and PLC-based control systems tailored for local operations. They need someone who can develop, test, and troubleshoot both.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Writing control software and testing it on real systems. That means C# for software and PLCs for hardware—any platform.
• Designing, executing, evaluating and documenting tests for control software applications to ensure reliability and performance.
• Getting hands-on with the tech. This isn’t just sitting at a desk coding. You’ll be working with input/output devices, prototyping, and troubleshooting physical systems.
• Improving system performance. Whether it’s tweaking a control algorithm or integrating new hardware, you’ll make things run better.
• Making Modbus work. If you know BACnet, great, but Modbus is preferred.
• Collaborating with a small but sharp team—four in Melbourne, plus an equivalent crew in Canada.

Who You Need to Be

• An engineer who enjoys figuring things out. You like tinkering, problem-solving, and getting systems to work.
• Degree-qualified in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
• Competent in both C# and PLC programming. If you’re missing one, it’s not the right role.
• Experienced. Ideally, 5+ years in control systems, automation, R&D hardware testing, or industrial environments. If you’re sharp and quick to learn, they’ll look at 3.
• A team player. You’ll be working closely with engineers both locally and globally.

This role is 100% office-based because it’s hands-on, and remote work doesn’t make sense for it.
