Sex Offender Programs Psychologist (1x Ongoing)

Location - Metropolitan Special Programs Centre (MSPC), Long Bay Correctional Complex
Employment type - Ongoing full time (Part Time - 4 Days per Week will be considered)
Salary -
Psychologist
$74,302.00pa - $113,765.00pa (Pro-rata);
Specialist Psychologist $109,631.00pa - $134,446.00pa (Pro-rata)
Plus environmental allowance, employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your Role

The Sex Offender Programs at MSPC deliver high-quality, cognitive-behavioural group interventions designed to foster behaviour change, self-awareness, and self-efficacy in clients.

As a psychologist within this specialised program, you will work with individuals convicted of sexual offences, equipping them with skills and strategies to make informed life choices. This role provides the opportunity to develop expertise in long-term, in-depth group and individual interventions, working with complex clients from diverse backgrounds.

What you'll do

  • Conduct assessments and interventions for people convicted of sexual offences
  • Deliver group-based offence-specific and offence-related interventions
  • Provide expert consultation to staff regarding offender mental health & risk management
  • Maintain accurate case notes and documentation
  • Prepare reports and provide professional advice
  • Participate in professional development, including the annual Psychological Conference.

What we're looking for

  • A motivated psychologist committed to providing ethical and effective psychological services in a dynamic, resource-limited environment
  • Strong expertise in correctional psychology, including mental health, cognitive impairment, and behaviour management
  • Knowledge of criminogenic risk assessment and psychological interventions in a correctional setting

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology with current provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
